  • what's up?

Well, after a long absence, here's a little update...

July 3rd. The best day of the year. My birthday. And this year is going to be perfect. I have off Saturday - Wednesday. Summerfest, the world's largest music festival, is during that time. I told Jeff that of the concerts I had heard on the line up John Mayer is who I wanted to see the most. And what day did I find out John Mayer is playing? July 3rd. It's a sign. So Jeff is taking me for my birthday...

The Marcus Amphitheater – a 23,000 seat venue with spectacular views of Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee skyline, is host to the music industry’s hottest music superstars during the 11 days of Summerfest, and throughout the rest of the summer.

iTunes has John Mayer's Continum album on sale for $7.99. Fabulous.

  • Two Certain Things in Life

    Death

Well, in the last few days I've been reminded of the fleeting nature of life both by our national news and by the suicide of a co-worker's friend.

It makes me think, about a lot of things, that I'm not going to post right now.

    Taxes

I know we all hate taxes, but they were particularly heinous this year for two reasons. 1. The federal government feels we owe them money. 2. We lived and worked in two states. Ugh. Glad it's over until next year at least. I fully anticipate getting a fat refund then.

    Depressing, huh...

On a lighter note, this weekend we started working on finishing a coffee table for our living room. My stepmom gave us a table that was kitchen height and we took the legs off and made a new base for it. Now we just need to finish sanding it and stain it. Jeff did most of the work, and it turned out really nice. We'll probably have to rough up the new lumber to match the old cracked and worn top. Here are some pics of our work in progress:

  • Basketball and a Band....

I have often lamented our change in lifestyle after moving to Milwaukee, but I have actually been blessed with a lot of free entertainment.

On Sunday, I went to my third free Bucks game of the season. (They lost but it was a good game.) Each time I've gone we've been in about the 10th row, so the seats were awesome.

I've also been to a hockey game, the opera, and comedy club for free.

And then last night Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin was nice enough to put me and my sister on their guestlist at The Rave. Their show was fabulous of course and the other bands were good as well.

They don't allow cameras in the building, but I did find it funny that they omited a word from the band's name and still barely fit it on the sign:

    Rave 001

Well, hope you're having as much fun as I am!!

  • It's getting hot in here...

Yesterday it got up to 80 degrees. How crazy is that? 80 degrees in March in Wisconsin... now that's global warming.

Otherwise... things going well. Had a meeting yesterday with the CEO. He said I did a good job on the work I presented. That's always a good thing.

    Well, have a good day!

p.s. I still need responses on my question regarding GRE preparations.
